Guide how to configurate Database check

Test your DB performance. Check DB connection, availability, authentication. Run a specific query to analyze the data. Collects statistics of DB performance, growth and other preset values.

To perform a Database Check, follow these steps:

  1. Under “Monitoring type,” select “Database check.”

  2. Fill in the following details:

    • Server type: Choose the appropriate database type (e.g., Microsoft SQL).

    • Server:Port: Enter your server’s domain or IP address along with the port number (e.g., mydb.domain.com or IP 1433).

    • Database: Provide the name of your database.

    • Task name (optional): Assign a descriptive name for this monitoring task.

    • Interval: Set how often you want to perform the database check (e.g., every 10 minutes).

    • Tags: Optionally add tags to categorize this task.

    • Monitoring enabled: Check this box to activate monitoring immediately.

    • Full log: Decide whether to store detailed results (full log) or only summary data.

Remember that this is a high-level overview, and specific steps may vary based on your monitoring tool or platform. Adjust the instructions accordingly to match your system’s interface.

To set up a Database check on the query page, follow these steps:

  1. In the “Query” field, input your specific query to test your DB performance. For example: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SomeTable.

  2. The “Query result” will display the value in the first column of the first row obtained after running the query (mainly for SELECT queries).

  3. Under “Result verification”, choose whether you want to verify results or not.

  4. Check “Retry on query fail” if you want the system to retry in case of a failed attempt.

To set up a Database check on the auth page, follow these steps:

  • Enter Database User Credentials:

    • In the “DB user name” field, input the username associated with your database. This is typically the user account that has read or write access to the database.

    • In the “DB user password” field, provide the corresponding password for the database user.

  • Whitelist Your IP Address for DB Firewall:

    • Pay attention to the “DB is requested from” section. It displays IP addresses.

    • Ensure that your IP address (the one from which the database requests will originate) is included in the whitelist for the database firewall.

    • If necessary, add your IP address to the whitelist by following the appropriate steps in your database management system.

Choose Your Notification Preferences:

  • In the “Subscribe all selected” section, you’ll find three options:

    • “Up”: Select this if you want to receive notifications via email one month, 7 days, and 3 days before your domain expiration date.

    • “Down”: Choose this option to get notified when your domain name has already expired.

    • “Repeat”: Opt for this if you wish to receive daily alerts until the issue is resolved.

Uptime Reports:

  • Under “Subscribe all selected,” choose the frequency of uptime reports: daily, weekly, or monthly.

  • Enter an email address where these reports will be sent.

  • Click “Save” to apply your settings.
